Tropical Paradise

Malaysia is a tropical paradise and since it was a British colony, you can get by very well using good old English.

Where is Malaysia?

Malaysia is a country in South-East Asia, located :

  • partly on the peninsula of the Asian mainland (West Malaysia) and

  • partly on the northern third of the island of Borneo (East Malaysia).

Malaysian tourism in a nutshell

In the last few years, Malaysian tourism accounts for about 1/10th of Malaysia's economy. Malaysia's location is ideal start yourholiday in South East Asia. The government agencies in charge of promoting tourism in Malaysia are:

East Malaysia (Borneo) shares borders with Brunei and Indonesia.

Malacca MalaysiaWest Malaysia:

  • shares a border with Thailand,

  • is connected by a causeway and a bridge (Malaysia-Singapore Second Link) to the island state of Singapore and

  • has coastlines on the South China Sea and the Straits of Malacca.

Malacca Malaysia (see right picture top) is considered to lie on the origins of what is now called Malaysia.

Much of the old charms of Malacca are disappearing by the day, so you better rush to catch a glimpse of what once was the center of Malaysia.

holiday MalaysiaAnother town that's rapidly using it's old Chinese charms is Taiping.

Although called a heritage city, cozy old Chinese shops have been bulldozed to make space for ugly concrete shopping complexes.

But the charms of the famous Lake Gardens still attracts lots and lots of visitors.

Having spent now more than 10 years in Malaysia, there are still places I didn't manage to visit, like famous Langkawi and Penang.

Reason enough to stress that a 10 year MM2H visit pass still gives you enough time to visit all touristy and non touristy places in Malaysia.
