Anwar and Badawi: it takes 2 to tango!
September 18th, 2008 by MM2H

I heard PM Abdullah Badawi in the news saying that he will take measures in favour of all Malaysians…
Well, if you want to please all Malaysians in the Malaysian political landscape of today, you need to do know that :
- a bit more than 50% of the population is OK with what you are doing and
- a bit less than 50% of the population is NOT OK with what you are doing.
The only way in a situation like this to make sure everybody is heard is starting a dialogue. Something that didn’t need to be done before because hey, more than 90% approved Abdullah Badawi when he came in office!
Now with each person out of 2 unhappy, you need to talk to the other one. I mean, how is a tango going to look like when both of the dancers wants to do things their way? Impossible isn’t it?

If hammers can’t screw, don’t throw away your hammer!
September 16th, 2008 by MM2H

How sad this screw looks after being butchered in a wall with a hammer…
You don’t have to throw away your hammer because it’s not useful for screwing screws. You just need to use the right tool for the right purpose: screws need screwdrivers and hammers are maid to hammer nails.
Same logic when it comes to the ISA: you don’t have to throw away the ISA because it is used "for protecting a journalist".
If you are a technician, then you know you have a big toolbox and you tools according to what they are made for. if you are in a hurry, you sometimes use the wrong tool with the consequence that both your tool as the object you used it on are no more in perfect shape:
- Theresa Kok is having diarrhoea says her father. Raja Petra doesn’t look as good as he used to says his wife who was allowed to visit him today.
- Syed Hamid’s explanation of using the ISA for purposes other than it was made for doesn’t do his credibility amongst the people any good.
And De facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim resigns because:
- he is under the impression that all the tools are available but
- without his approval people are using the tools for purposes different than they were made of…
And here we hit the core of the problem: as long as there are rules but nobody clearly pointed out to make sure the rules are followed, it’s as trusting a traffic light in a country without police…

Anwar’s Mutiny on the Bounty
September 16th, 2008 by MM2H

916 or today was the day Anwar Ibrahim promised to take over the government. Name me 1 politician who keeps his promises
So today business as usual: Anwar is still the leader of the opposition and that’s good news. I mean, you cannot expect a government to change hands by the strike of midnight, can you?
We aren’t talking ISA that can be used for anything these days, including to protect people, leading to the De facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim to quit government.
We are talking about ruling a country of people who all work hard for the money just not to see where the taxpayers money goes to.
We are talking about ruling a country of people who all work hard for the money just to get thrown in jail by the ISA in stead of having to adhere to normal laws where you can stand up and defend yourself.
We are talking about a government that got the votes it got and the seats that were divided accordingly. If somebody claims to have the numbers, then these numbers have to be materialised be it in:
- people from 1 party stepping out of it and :
- jump to another party
- stay independent
- form another party
Ones everybody has stopped jumping up and down, left or right, the ruling party can count for itself whether it still has a majority to rule or not.
Today nobody jumped nowhere, so according to the law of order: the ruling party is still in power.
On a bad sideline:
De facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim has resigned, so it’s not clear what kind of law and order is in place and the ISA arrests don’t clear things up for the better either.
