Anwar Ibrahim’s last speech?

Why was yesterday’s Anwar Ibrahim and Shabery TV debate historical?
Maybe because it will be Anwar’s last public speech for 20 years to come?
It’s now past midnight and Anwar didn’t return home… that’s 12 hours of helping to investigate a sodomy complaint.
Surely he should be able to go home and sleep with his family, for all you know prisons do have a high rate of so…, well, you know…
And nothing prevents Anwar Ibrahim to help out the police the next day, since so far he kept his part of the agreements.
Let’s just hope that again the people will win from all this, just like the people won yesterday’s debate.

About Anwar, Shabery and milking cows

First time debate on Malaysian TV between an opposition leader and a member of the ruling party.
I would love to see more of these! Why?
- to learn about other views and plans of other political parties because
- censored 8 o’clock news and government approved newspapers can’t show the whole story.
Would a debate happen again or will Anwar be arrested today?
Who said what?
Yesterday’s debate between Anwar and Shabery was in Bahasa, so a few things could have gone missing in my expat translation… I would summarize the 1 hour as follows:
According to Anwar the Malaysian government needs to:
Use the resources of Malaysia wisely
According to Shabery the Malaysian government needs to:
Find more money and stop milking Petronas any more
It’s no rocket science what Anwar says: every good household knows that:
you need to spend your resources wisely if you want to have
wealth and
savings to overcome bad days.
It’s no rocket science what Shabery says: every good farmer knows that:
you can milk a cow so much until it dies.
So there are 2 options:
- the government’s option: replacing ‘Petronas’ with ‘Rakyat’ and continue milking like before
- the wise option: use your resources wisely and improve your resources
Conclusion
Malaysia doesn’t need Anwar to teach wisdom…
Malaysia needs one politician to become PM to apply wisdom.

The Anwar Ibrahim scandal got even more dirty yesterday afternoon. It kind of exploded by a second statutory declaration. To round this week up and with the believe that everybody is innocent until proven guilty:
- Anwar Ibrahim get’s accused of sodomy - anal sexual intercourse that is.
- Najib get’s dragged further in the Altantuya murder case with the words "sexual relationship" and "anal" as well.
I think I am going to cancel my Astro Satellite TV subscription because non of the fiction on TV beats this Malaysian political reality show. On top of that: 6 hours later in the evening news they were talking about “a prominent politician” being involved and then showing Najib that he isn’t involved… Boring, slow, playing with the facts…
If there are 3 people you want to play drama politics with in Malaysia, you go for the best:
- Dr Tun Mahathir: as he was in power for 22 years
- Abdullah Badawi: as he is in power now
- Anwar Ibrahim: as he knows how to play the public and knows how to play democratics the way it is played in the US.
