Police turns Kuala Lumpur into Green Zone
July 15th, 2008 by MM2H

Yesterday I felt being in Iraq trying to get into Baghdad’s heavily secured Green Zone. But my main goal was getting into Kuala Lumpur before 9.00am.
Although recent fuel hikes has solved parts of the daily traffic jams, yesterday it was impossible to get into the capital.
So everything goes smooth…
Why does Kuala Lumpur become a Green Zone?
Because Anwar was coming says the public opinion.
Because we have evidence there will be a huge demo today says Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar.
Let’s hope your evidence is better than
the evidence used to start the war in Iraq…
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar also said:
by preventing the demo, I ensure everything will go smooth
You read that right! For Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar:
standing in a traffic jam for 2 hours is labeled as
"everything goes smooth".
Why the rakyat get fed up
Fed up wasting time listening to politicians trying to explain that all goes smooth at the same time images from endless traffic jams show up.
Say one thing, show another!
What proof do you have that BN is representing the rakyat?
Last quote of Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar.
"It is not wrong to change the government, but don’t forget that we (Barisan Nasional) are also representing the rakyat, not just them (Pakatan Rakyat),"
- Oops, you are only "also" representing the rakyat? Time for the rakyat to form a party that solely has the rakyat’s interests in mind
- if you are representing the rakyat, then why don’t you do what the rakyat asks:
- get rid of the current leader 3 months ago
- get the oil price back where it was
We all know that change can’t come in one day (unless you increase oil prices with %40 overnight…).
But how do you keep a straight face? Saying all is smooth when at the same time you show images that show the opposite: a huge jam?
At least get the story right.
Preferably not by covering up nor painting over the problems but by solving them.

Drawings of Hibiscus flowers
July 15th, 2008 by MM2H

Admire these most beautiful drawings of Hibiscus flowers on concrete pillars in the middle of Manila, Philippines.
Yes, I ended up finding drawings of hibiscus flowers in the Philippines (mayniladailyphoto.blogspot.com)… Although in Google I explicitly added "Malaysia" in my search to find out what Malaysia has to offer.
It’s kind of weird: the Hibiscus being the national flower of Malaysia and Hawaii. Hawaii did show up in the search results but Malaysia not so…
Some of the hibiscus flowers in my garden are even imported from the Netherlands…
Dutch people really know how to do business: they don’t have the best beer, but they export their Heineken worldwide. And although tulips are the Dutch national flowers, they are nicely transporting Hibiscus flowers into Malaysia… Yes that’s right: hibiscus is the national flower of Malaysia, not of The Netherlands…
And have you ever wondered why are there no drawings of hibiscus flowers in the Malaysian flag?

Bala’s back
July 9th, 2008 by MM2H

The best news of today is that Balasubramaniam aka Bala is back. Or at least that’s what we assume because nobody really has seen him after he disappeared a few days ago.
But according to his nephew - R Kumaresan - Bala managed to make contact late last night via a short telephone call.
Of course with all the drama of the last few days (Bala is missing-Anwar Ibrahim’s annals-Altantuya+Najib) a few questions remain unclear:
- Can we believe this statement of R Kumaresan, or will it be retracted tomorrow?
- Is Bala really using an iPhone?
On a less funny note
- how sure can you be the person on the other end of the line was really Bala?
- was Bala speaking freely or was he pressured to make the statement he said on the phone?
- what about his wife and three children?
Too many unsolved questions to be entirely happy that Bala is back
