Left, right and center

May 28th, 2008 by MM2H

union chedetWhen Chedet aka Tun Dr. Mahathir touched down from Japan, he couldn’t resist to give Abdullah a left, right and center 5 minutes earful: Union-style armed with a loud-hailer from the sunroof of a silver multi-purpose van at the airport…

Just their luck that the Japanese went the extra mile to keep them far away from each other at the recent annual Nikkei conference.

But the key sentence is left-right and center. Because being a leader from a party that always has had the majority, what kind of politician is Mahathir: left, right or center?

If you accuse Anwar to be a chameleon, then the above reason is your simple explanation: if you belong to a party that has a majority, you have the luxury of playing the left, right or center card.

  1. If Mahathir made sure there are no weapons inside the country, which card is he playing?
  2. If Mahathir says: follow me and get out of the party, which card is he playing?
  3. If Mahathir talks about Malay rights, which card is he playing?

And shouldn’t we be all Malaysians in the true spirit of Nelson Mandela’s fight: making a country for everybody…

Inedible ink

May 23rd, 2008 by MM2H

inedible fruitNo, we are not talking about inedible fruit - fruit you cannot eat - nor inedible ink as being ink you cannot drink, but we are talking non erasable ink: those inks they use in Afghanistan, Iraq or Nepal during elections on people’s fingers as a proof they have been voting once..

What’s the fuzz this time in Malaysia about inedible ink you would say?

Inedible ink for honest elections in Malaysia

Well, Malaysia wanted to counter people to vote twice with the good old method used in war torn countries like Iraq: using inedible ink.

So the ink gets bought from India and meanwhile people can vote not needing their passport but a paper from their employer will do. Never mind how silly that sounds, there is still the inedible ink that will be put on your finger once you voted, so you cannot vote twice.

Until… for some reason or another somebody says LAST MINUTE (4 days before the election that is): no need for the inedible ink after all…

Sounds fishy doesn’t it? And even if it’s not at all fishy: these ink is paid for in the first place! Should have thought about that before, isn’t it?

We are talking RM2.4 million to buy 48,000 bottles of the ink from India. Could have been used for something else like much needed rice these days…

Why a last minute cancellation?

Reason given then: public order and security reasons… I would jolly well want to know how you can disturb public order with inedible ink, let alone what’s so insecure about inedible ink? Other countries use it as well, but then again, we are talking about Malaysia and how they do things. The grass is always different somewhere else, that shouldn’t be a motive for your actions…

Well, the inedible ink could have been used on unsuspecting voters to create chaos on polling day the decision-makers claimed…

Why so late in lodging a police report?

Anyway, according to the newspaper on Friday May 23:

Two polls watchdog groups today lodged a police report against Election Commission chief Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for the last-minute cancellation of the indelible ink in the March 8 general elections.

Also named in the police report are two other key individuals who were allegedly responsible for the abrupt reversal in the use of the ink - inspector general of police Musa Hassan and attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail.

You wonder why they are so late in lodging a police report, maybe to balance out the last minute decision of the previous, maybe to make their case stronger before taking action? Well, we are talking 2 groups: Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih) and National Institute for Electoral Integrity (NIEI). And we all know how unpopular Bersih is with the ruling party…

Well, two weeks ago Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar told Parliament that the EC’s decision to cancel the use of the indelible ink was based on ‘hearsay evidence’ received by the police… That must have triggered the 2 polls watchdogs to finally go strong and make a police report.

The future of Malaysia?

With Chedet leaving UMNO and now this ink issue, it seems that the Malaysian elections still are far from over… Maybe they want to redo it all over again using the inedible ink after all?

Sad in times where fast and smart measures should be taken to counter the way too expensive oil prices and shortage of rice…

Girl gets rape in public in Malaysia pub

May 23rd, 2008 by MM2H

girl gets rape in public in Malaysia pubIt’s almost Friday night and most likely you could be the next girl gets rape in public in Malaysia pub.

No, my English is not deteriorating… it looks more that I had a drink too much… quite innocent huh… Not really!

Unfortunately there are cheap drugs out there to add in a girl’s drink that will make her feel "a bit drunk", loose consciousness and loose her short time memory. Needless to say that’s how and when the date rapes occur and what you can’t remember, you can’t report.

On top of that reporting a rape is always a horrific ordeal as a lot of men out there will let you think you provoked the man, so you should be to blame in the first place.

U tube hot wild dance Malaysia girl

Now there are quite a few Malaysia girl videos out there that are quite hot like the one below. But "hot" is only in the eye of the beholder. If a guy is gay, he most likely won’t get turned on looking at this girl dancing.

One of the many Malaysia girl videos on YouTube:
u tube hot wild dance Malaysia girl

Now it’s not only Malaysia girls that dance like that. I mean: watch a video of Mariah Carey and turn of the music. Some men won’t notice the difference!

So that brings the debate to: where do you dress appropriate and where not? First and foremost: you should dress appropriate everywhere! Needless to say that fashion designers create dresses for cocktail parties, evening dresses, office wear, beach wear… so you could get an idea what to wear where.

Like what we read yesterday in the newspapers: Malaysia school girls should be wearing something more decent than their white uniform, the baju kurung - a traditional long top and skirt -. Of course a headscarf is desired for Malaysia school girls from Malay origin..

An Islamic group today condemned the uniform worn by girls at government schools, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

malaysia malay girlsAgain: aren’t there other ways to prevent men from raping women that we can focus on as well? Needless to say that you should add to that the male’s lust and men’s ideas that a woman is a piece of possession like a wristwatch so they can do with a woman anything they want adds to encouraging rape.

And as long as women won’t be taken 100% serious in jail nor at the police nor in court… that also adds to encouraging rape.

Now I must add to white and light clothes: ones it starts raining, they really become overly transparent. That doesn’t mean that that’s an excuse to start raping a Malaysian school girl just because it happens to be raining…

malaysia school girl

When I was teaching, my girl guide Malaysia was to always carry an umbrella where-ever you go. They are quite small, won’t protect your legs from getting wet but at least your top keeps looking decent (that is when you are lucky a bypassing car doesn’t wet you all over…).

One can ask why does a Malaysia school girl get raped in the first place? Because they are easy pray: when school finishes there are a bunch of them waiting for parents that "have 1001 other things to do" so they arrive late…

Add to that no decent supervision of police or any other authority figures and you have "high supply" of naive, young Malaysia girls to become victims. Especially when they get raped by "your neighbour who was so friendly to go and pick her up". Yes, it’s normally the person that you least expect that does the raping!

How not to become a girl getting raped in public in a Malaysian pub

Look at a typical night out in a bar, dance club or party:

Right: you can hardly see anything, it’s dark and you have no clue what is happening with your drink or with the cigarette a "nice friend’ is offering you.

The products used to subdue (not at all seduce!!!) you are colourless and tasteless and can be put in your drink or you could get a cigarette with more in it than just tobacco.

So how do Malaysian girls prevent themselves from getting a suspicious drink? Very difficult. You could divide your evening in having a drink that you don’t loose out of your sight and the rest of the evening dancing about.

It’s always better to go out in group with other Malaysian girls and guys you trust. Once you feel "strange, dizzy, tired, drunk…", make sure the girls accompany you home! That should keep you for not becoming the next girl gets rape in public in Malaysia pub : not being able to talk nor walk properly nor to remember adequately being a victim of date rape…
