Malaysia girls

Living in a country where you cannot say what you think, newspapers really need to fork out lots of imagination to :
- live up the trend of hot gossip news worldwide
- keeping in line with Malaysian governmental politics
Although there won’t be nudity, some newspapers do know how to attract visitors using the term nude…
Malaysia beach nude make-up
Well, sounds nude, but it isn’t…
This extract comes from the NST (New York Straight Times) Malaysia newspaper. Most likely the government has some stakes in this newspaper, as they are allowed to go a bit further than the other big Star Malaysia newspaper when it comes to celebrities, gossip and the kind. Mind you, no such thing as page 3 Malaysian girls…
Malaysia Nude extract
This season’s makeup trend for cosmetics label M.A.C is a study of extremes.
There is nude, barely-there makeup on the one hand, the kind that says polished and flawless. It “sculpts” your face, giving the soft illusion of a higher cheekbone and sharper jawline. Blending the shades takes effort to make the “sculpturing” seem natural.
There are also traffic-stopping colours on eyes and lips reminiscent of Gwen Stefani or Harajuku girls, delivering an explosion of colour on an otherwise pale canvas.
What didn’t get the news?
Why only just before new Malaysian elections Indian (Hindu) holy-day Thaipusam get’s suddenly declared as an almost national holiday for part of Malaysia (unless if you have a bloody angry boss who finds all this politics ridiculous when it hurts his payroll…).
Thaipusam is a major Hindu religious festival celebrated on large scale no where else in the world except in Malaysia and India.
Is this to compensate the 37 Indians who in November 25, 2007 were protesting in the streets (like what happens in any democracy) and got changed for attempted murder? (the so called Hindraf rally)
Our election sweet PM gave an open house… "Busloads of people were ferried to the stadium, entertained by singers, served with food and drinks." Unlike the Hindraf rally : no more police intimidation, tear gas, water canons, arrests and imprisonment…

So did anything change after the elections?
April 11th, 2008 by MM2H
Well: the Prime Minister "finally fulfilled" his promise to go to the people: he held a session inviting 1000 grass root delegates to….
STOP RIGHT THERE:
How can anybody listen to 1000 different delegates in a few hours time???
Nothing changed really
This is just one example that the government keeps on taking people for granted, slightly assuming people are stupid:
if you paint over a crack, the crack is still there…
What about democracy?
Malaysia’s ruling party rules just because they hold numbers: from 93% in the last election to fairly more than 50% in the latest election.
Numbers is all that matters and one wonders if this "just a bit above 50%" is true or adjusted.
Also some rules put a different Top man in their state than the one recommended by the ruling party.
Now in any European country where you can only rule forming a coalition: one would have found a win-win situation for both.
Yet in a country ruled by numbers: the Prime Minister went to see the Sultan about this, and the Sultan didn’t change his mind…
Malaysia is still al long way off where there will be a win-win for everybody, make that a win-win-win-win for the so called Chinese, Indians, Malays and Aborigines… In stead of focusing on winning the elections and then forget about it until the next elections…
Why can’t they all have equal rights as Malaysian citizens should have?
Why has Nelson Mandela fought all his life against Apartheid yet a similar Apartheid is in the mind and constitution made by the ruling party?

Dengue Fever
April 9th, 2008 by MM2H

My previous post about aedes mosquitos alarmed some people back home, so let me explain what dengue fever is all about.
Yellow fever is not dengue fever
I still remember my doctor opening a book, ruffled through some pages and decided to give me a jab against yellow fever before I left to Malaysia…
Yellow fever is not dengue fever. There is no vaccine for dengue fever, the only way not to contract dengue fever is to make sure you don’t get bitten by those zebra striped mosquitos called aedes mosquitos.
Malaria is not dengue fever
What malaria and dengue have in common is that there aren’t vaccines for both fevers.
The big difference between the 2 is:
- once you have malaria: every so many months it will make you feverish and you need to take medicine (quinine works). It’s a recurrent fever so of course it’s monetized to "cure" it and not to prevent it
- once you have dengue: you will get sick once, and it’s kind of do or die…
What does Dengue Fever do with you?
Dengue fever messes up your immune system but more dangerous; it reduces your bloodplatelets count. In other words: it’s making your blood thinner to the extent that you can get internal bleeding and bleed to death.
The solution is to get into the hospital online, so they can monitor your blood and make it thicker again (give you extra bloodplatelets) once it’s getting quite too thin for comfort.
They will also put you on a drip because otherwise your body will get dehydrated. An extra nuisance is that you don’t have any appetite, so you won’t eat much to built strength and let your body fight off the virus.
The problem is being diagnosed too late. It all starts with headaches and other flu like symptoms, so if you are a strong person ready to "fight a terrible flu", you could end up with internal bleedings and then things are too late.
How to be aware of dengue
The aedes mosquito loves the urban areas, especially construction sites (read booming cities). It only needs 1 drop of water to lay eggs…
They tend to only come out after 17.00 and before 09.00 am, but rest assured, I have seen many aedes mosquitoes not wearing a watch.
If you do have "a strange flu", make sure you ask your doctor what experience he has with dengue.
It took me 2 young doctors (you have a flu, take antibiotics…) before I visited a 3th much older doctor who looked at me, put the blood-pressure machine on my arm kind of hurting me and 2 minutes later my arm was full with little red dots.
"Can you make it to a hospital now or do I get you transport?" "For what I can see, you have dengue fever…" he said.
As you can see, dengue fever didn’t kill me
